I just can't get enough of making these little almond cookies! Ever since learning how to make them 5 years ago, I have set myself a goal of making the "perfect" batch of macarons..
My first batch of macarons were chewy and slightly soggy - didn't understand why they turned out the way they were at that time. They were still edible of course, so I finished them off with a simple dark chocolate ganache.

Finally have a chance to try Peninsula HK's afternoon-tea, haven't been here for tea in ages! The building is as prestige as always. Situated in a prime location facing the Victoria Harbour, you get a great view of the Hong Kong side from the second floor and beyond. This hotel is considered sort of a landmark and a that's why tons of people from around the world come visit every year just to check it out. Another famous attraction of the hotel is its famous 3-tier English-style afternoon tea at the lobby lounge. Hundreds of people queue up, sometimes up to an hour, for a table just to try out the afternoon tea. I heard that they sometimes have to serve more than a thousand covers a day... just for afternoon tea!
It's that time of the year again and having missing out on mimichi's birthday last year, I told myself that I have make this cake no matter what! This is the cappuccino cake which I have made several times already and each time the layers have been altered slightly. However, the general idea of the cake is the same: milk mousse on the top, coffee mousse in the middle and cake/sponge on the bottom. I am quite happy with this version and will probably stick with this recipe and work on it!
Mimichi was happy and enjoyed the cake very much and so did Koko, K and dad, which made me very happy too. It's a great feeling seeing someone appreciate what you've made, and it is even better if that is someone you love. Man Sing restaurant (民聲冰室) is located in an area call Dai Hang (大坑), which is just a couple of minutes walk away from Tin Hau (天后) MTR station, I was lucky enough to meet up with theboywhoatetheworld and it was his first visit to HK, so I thought this was a good chance to try out this restaurant - since it was my first time here too!
